Veneers: how much tooth has to go
A veneer is a thin shell bonded to the visible face of the tooth to change its shape, colour or position. The question that matters is not which material it is made of, but how much enamel has to come off to fit it.
Minimal preparation
Feldspathic porcelain veneers allow very thin sections and, in favourable cases, barely any cutting at all. It is the option we prefer whenever the case allows, because enamel that is removed never comes back.
If the problem is tooth position, orthodontics first sometimes saves a great deal more tooth.

01 How long do porcelain veneers last?
With correct hygiene and regular check-ups, the service life is long. The factor that shortens it most is uncontrolled bruxism: if you clench, a night guard is part of the treatment.
02 Do veneers look artificial?
Not when they are properly planned. Porcelain reproduces the translucency of enamel and the design starts from your facial proportions. What reads as artificial usually comes from a shade that is too uniform and a shape that is too symmetrical.
03 Does a lot of tooth have to be filed down?
We work with minimal preparation and, in selected cases, none at all. The less enamel we touch, the better the long-term prognosis.
04 Can I eat normally?
Yes. It is worth avoiding biting hard objects such as ice, or opening things with your teeth — the same as with natural teeth.
05 Can veneers be removed?
The bonding is adhesive and definitive. If one needs replacing in future, it is substituted with another. That is why the prior aesthetic trial matters so much: it is the moment to change your mind.
